What is a Telwel eSIM for travel?

A Telwel eSIM is a virtual SIM card that allows you to use a prepaid local internet plan without the need for a physical SIM. No identification or passport is required to purchase—just a few clicks. The eSIM has no phone number and is intended exclusively for internet, messengers, social networks, and video calls.

Which devices are compatible with Telwel eSIM?

You can install Telwel eSIM on phones and tablets running iOS or Android that support eSIM technology. To check if your device supports eSIM, enter *#06# on your device—if you see an EID number, eSIM is supported. You can also check for «Install eSIM» or «Add eSIM» options in your device settings.

How do I receive my eSIM after purchase?

After purchase, your eSIM (QR code) will appear in your Telwel account on the website in the «Non-actived eSIM» section, and in the Telwel app for both Android and iOS under «My eSIM.» For iOS, installation takes just a tap on the «Setup eSIM» button—no QR code scanning is required.

How do I install and configure the eSIM?

Step-by-step instructions with screenshots are available in the «How to Use» section on our website. Simply select your device type and installation method (website or app). Key configuration steps are highlighted in red for your convenience.

When should I install my Telwel eSIM?

We recommend installing your eSIM just before your trip, while still in your home region, with a stable internet connection. You can also install it abroad, but if your connection is poor, postpone installation to a better time.

Does the Telwel eSIM plan include only internet?

Yes, only internet access is included—there is no phone number, and you cannot make standard calls or send/receive SMS.

How do I manage my balance and top up with Telwel eSIM?

You can view your remaining days and data volume in the app under «My eSIM» or in your account on the website under «Active eSIM.» Check your balance frequently. When the data or validity period ends, simply purchase a new eSIM with any required data amount.

Can I share internet using Telwel eSIM?

Yes, you can share your internet connection freely within the limits of your purchased data.

Will my Primary SIM card still work?

Yes, but make sure your mobile internet is set to use the eSIM to avoid roaming charges from your main operator. Alternatively, you can disable your Primary SIM for the duration of your trip. Device setup screenshots are available in «How to use» on the website.

Why is Telwel eSIM better than local SIM cards?

You get instant internet access upon arrival without removing your Primary SIM or searching for local stores, providing documents, or signing contracts. In some countries, buying a local SIM is difficult. Telwel’s internet prices are close to local operator rates

Are there any hidden fees or charges?

No, there are no subscription or hidden fees. Only the prepaid data amount is used—safe and straightforward.

When does the validity period of eSIM start?

The eSIM activates as soon as it connects to the local operator’s network.

Can I get a refund for my eSIM after purchase?

Unfortunately, no—eSIMs are non-refundable. If you encounter any issues with installation or activation, contact support via the website, the app, or hello@telwel.io . Our support team is available 24/7.

How long does it take to activate the eSIM after purchase?

Activation usually takes just a few minutes; in rare cases, up to 1 hour. Ensure a stable internet connection (from your Primary SIM or Wi-Fi) during activation.

What should I do if I see an “Activation failed” or “Invalid code” error?

In most cases, these messages are not critical. Check if the eSIM is present in your device’s settings. If unsure, contact customer support.

Can I reinstall the eSIM on the same device if it was deleted?

We recommend keeping your eSIM until the plan expires. If it is accidentally deleted, you can try scanning the same QR code again on the same device with a stable connection.

Didn’t find your answer?
